Perthshire Wedding Photography

Welcome! I’m Marieke (pronounced mah-ree-kah), a wedding and event photographer based in beautiful Perthshire, Scotland.

Originally from The Netherlands, I’ve called Scotland home since 2001 and absolutely love it here. My family (my husband Ewan, our kids aged 15 & 17, three cats and a young border collie!) live in what we call a piece of paradise; a house near Fortingall surrounded by a beautiful woodland garden and lots of wildlife. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me tending to our Himalayan woodland garden, out hill walking, or busy with my role as a Scout leader in Aberfeldy.

Journalism

My background is in journalism, and I still write features for magazines. I was a regular walking route contributor for Trail Magazine until it seized its print editions, and I still occasionally write features for other British and Dutch magazines. In 2006 I retrained as a photographer at Edinburgh’s Telford College. Since then I've been doing a lot more photography work, although I still enjoy writing assignments from a variety of publications.

Reportage

My style is mostly reportage; I love capturing genuine moments as they unfold, creating an authentic story of your day without too much posing or staging. The Courier newspaper uses me as one of their local freelancers so I'm very used to capturing all sorts of events, often at very short notice. 

Relaxed

I especially enjoy working in natural settings and love when children or animals are part of the day. My approach is relaxed, focusing on real emotions and the little details that make each wedding unique.
